Sensibility is required. However, the names don't have to be as honorable as they would elsewhere. With what is going on and everything, a little gloom is acceptable.
Note: many of the restrictions and allowances are due to the nature of the setting and plot.
Borcalais
In this country, the Lord has the suffix "-heart."
The Queen has the same suffix as the Lord.
The Prophets have the suffix "-sight."
The Soldiers have a suffix & prefix that is tailored to themselves.
The Apprentices have the suffix "-paw."
The Dwellers have a suffix & prefix that is tailored to themselves.
Verroven
In this country, the Lord has the suffix "-blood."
The Queen has the same suffix as the Lord.
The Prophets have the suffix "-soul."
The Soldiers have a suffix & prefix that is tailored to themselves.
The Apprentices have the suffix "-paw."
The Dwellers have a suffix & prefix that is tailored to themselves.
Not Allowed:
&&;; renames (just a little rearranging from a name used elsewhere)
&&;; memorial names (after a character in something)
&&;; self-naming (unique, unheard of names)
&&;; names based on circumstances of birth (I almost died so my name is DEATH)
&&;; names based on small/minor amounts of fur color (yes, they are born in their animal form)
The Formula:
A name tends to work when either
the cat|dog has a suffix that looks like the prefix,
the cat|dog looks like the prefix and is skilled with the suffix,
or the cat|dog looks like the prefix and has a suffix-y personality.
There are names that fit the formula but don't work (Stormstorm)
but all names that work do fit the formula.
