HISTORY
Derek was the founder, and his twin was Zach. When he died of kidney failure in the year 2200 his 35 year old son took over the throne. Since then, they have made great advances in medicine to ensure that the royal family can live as long as possible. The ruler of this country is always from the royal family, a descendant of Derek himself.
RELIGION
Ever since the nuclear apocalypse there has not really been a religion. However, Derek was rather fond of a variety of religions that his parents taught him about. He liked learning about the different culture, and made sure that when he formed his country, that any citizen could worship any type of higher power that they wanted. Since that establishment, religion has blossomed and only made the people in this country more happy and satisfied.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
There are no private cars other than for the royal family. However, there are many methods of traveling such as by cab, bus, running, or walking. All are very pleasant, and one could even purchase a bike or motorcycle if one so desired.
SCHOOLS
The school system is exceptional and makes sure that only the best people teach the children. Most dwellers only go through high school, but those who wish to work for the government often attend Borcalais University which deals with not only the military aspects of the country, but the academic scholars as well. It is a well balanced college, and even those who become apprentices or soldiers who go there must learn the basic school subjects to ensure that they have a brain.
POPULAR CULTURE
Borcalais not only is rich in religion, but rich in culture as well. There is a great variety of books, movies, activities, and the such like for citizens to enjoy. However, there is hardly anything violent, since this country is focused on maintaining peace and happiness -- well, accept when it comes to dealing with the Verroven werecats.
LAW ENFORCEMENT
The soldiers and apprentices are the only known law enforcement people, since the prophets of Borcalais often have powers that deal with helping and not enforcing. These people are dedicated to their job and will bring justice, no matter the cost. They are fair, and loyal to their country.
PRIVACY
Though the empire can tap into personal aspects, Sunheart often chooses to give each individual person their privacy. Only if there is a probable cause will he even remotely consider tapping into a phone conversation. The only thing that is not private is the fact that all citizens are kept on record on a giant computer hard-drive. This is to ensure that no werecats can try and pass for a weredog and sneak in and stay.
CONSEQUENCES
Those who are found breaking laws are often given hefty fines or have something of theirs taken away. Though they can go to jail, Borcalais is one of good moral so there are hardly any people doing actions against the law other than those who work in the underground market and participate in acts of smuggling. Those who help werecats across borderlines, or send products over to Verroven are taken to jail and interrogated. Though they are not tortured, they will be kept in prison until Sunheart and the prophets receive their answers. Since Sunheart and the prophets as well as most of the soldiers tend to be extremely hostile towards werecats, only those weredogs who deal with werecats tend to be punished severely.
ECONOMY
The economy flourishes both with credit cards and cash; it is very well balanced, and often left to run by itself with little intervention from the empire. However, there is a decent chunk of money that goes into the underground market, since they often make a good deal of cash getting items to desperate Verroven werecats.
EMPLOYMENT
There is a good deal of employment in the government, both regarding aspects like teaching, cab drivers, janitors, and such people like soldiers. Recently though with the growth towards the underground market, a decent amount of employment has been put into that -- even though the empire is trying desperately trying to stop the greedy weredogs and desperate werecats from exchanging money and items.
MISCELLANEOUS
- The soldiers are known to often guard the boarders since Puss-in-boots often likes to try and wander his way over into their empire.
- Marriage is free-range and not chosen, but weredogs are encouraged to only have one to three children to keep the population down and keep the economy and employment steady.
