HISTORY
Zach was the founder, and his twin was Derek. When he died in the year 2210 his 40 year old son took over the throne. Since then, they have made great advances in control, economy, and power to ensure that the royal family can continue to rule in a thriving country. The ruler of this country is always from the royal family, a descendant of Zach himself.
RELIGION
Unlike his brother, Zach had no interest in learning about religion. He claimed that religion was for those who could not take responsibility for their own actions or the actions of their country. Thus, when he created his country, he made sure that religion was not only banned, but that few people knew about it; this ensured that he himself was the ultimate power. This is how it is today in the year 3000.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
All personal vehicles are banned except for the ones that the royal family themselves use. However, there are many other ways of travel such as by cab systems or above-ground subway travel. The people could always run or walk where they want to get to as well, since they have more endurance than the average human.
SCHOOLS
The school systems are very closely monitored by the ruler of Verroven and though all the normal school subjects are taught, every subject is censored and distorted to fit the empire's taste. This is to ensure that Darkblood continues to maintain complete control over his country. The teaching are also advanced, and only the best teachers are hired.
The most popular school is the Verroven military academy, where those who wish to be apprenticed or soldiers will attend. There is also a normal academy connected to this body, but that is a small size compared against the military section.
Dwellers, the average citizen, often do not go to college, and only go up through the high schooling system being taught about how wonderful the empire is and how they are better than the citizens of Borcalais.
POPULAR CULTURE
Pop culture seems almost non-existent. Though there will be festivals, the most culture wise thing that seems to be going on is always for honoring those who serve the lord of empire directly; or celebrating himself by having a ball. All media is highly censored to ensure that each werecat knows as little about Borcalais -- other than that it's a bad country -- as possible.
However, there is a known underground market that will smuggle some of the more fun video games, movies, books, and such into the country from Borcalais. This is a dirty job and those who are caught often visit Darkblood only to never again return.
LAW ENFORCEMENT
Soldiers and prophets are the law enforcers, and they work directly for Darkblood. Most of these people are loyal to their positions and make sure to stop all trouble upon seeing it.
PRIVACY
The empire monitors everything to make sure that the country is safe as a whole. For the most part, people seem to understand that they have to give up a little to receive. Phone conversations are tapped into, transportation monitored as well as anything else that someone can think of. If he believes that suspicious activity is taking place, Darkblood will go to extremes to solve it and find what exactly it is -- and stop it.
All citizens upon birth are entered into a computer system with their education, job, and everything else logged and closely kept watch on.
THE CURFEW
In order to ensure the safety of the citizens, Verroven has a curfew of 10 o'clock. The soldiers as well as prophets will be monitoring the streets in each city after this time, looking for people who still might be out. Anyone caught breaking this law will face severe punishment; yet most people manage to get away without being seen.
CONSEQUENCES
There is no doubt in anyone's mind that some form of torture exists somewhere in this country. However, when publicly punishing, usually the worst thing that can happen is being dragged off to prison or receiving a hefty fine or having some of your personal goods taken away. When people are arrested though, they are heavily interrogated, treated ill. If any one person is tortured, that person is usually never released back into the public eye and either kept in prison or disposed of.
ECONOMY
The economy flourishes in this country. Though a majority of people use credit cards because there are many more stores that only use those, there are still some buildings that accept the diminishing form of currency called cash. The empire can seize any territory it wishes too and has often been known to help keep the economy flowing smoothly.
EMPLOYMENT
The largest source of employment by far involves the empire; from prophets to soldiers to torture specialists to the more common local cab drivers, teachers, and such. All of those people are considered employees of the country. Even people like waiters, programmers and the such are considered a part of the empire. There are some jobs, however, outside of the empire, such as smugglers and those who work in the underground market.
MISCELLANEOUS
- All suspects must cooperate with their superiors. If they do not, severe punishment will occur.
- Any citizen who is deemed a threat, can be taken away without the empire saying anything.
- There is a marriage system, to ensure that the best of the best people make the best of the best kids. People with any terminal illnesses, diseases, or disabilities are not allowed to marry or have children, and if they do have children, these kids are considered bastards. Other than this, those who are deemed "pure" can have kids, and are encouraged to have as many as they can.
